A series of 16 images printed on silver card

22 x 22 in / 55.8 x 55.8 cm each

Photographs of xeroxes of contact sheets of photographs taken by Eggert Briem around 1920-1940, The contact sheets and negatives are in the archive of Reykjavík Photography Museum. The title, Uppvakning, means to evoke, or awake the spirits, and I subsequently discovered that Eggert was for many years quite active in the Icelandic Association for Psychic Research, serving as the director from 1932 to 1938 and again in 1949-1965.
